LINCOLNTON, GA. - Mr. Albert Sidney "Buddy" Radford, III, 78 of 1184 Elberton Hwy. entered into rest on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home in Augusta, GA. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Lincolnton United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Broom and Rev. James Bocian officiating. Interment will follow in the Lincolnton City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ray Lamb, Dan Pitts, Larry Campbell, Dr. Robert Williams, Pierce McCurry, Glenn Matthews, Walter Palmer, Dee Turner, Gary Faulkner and Bob Norman. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hardee's Breakfast Club. Mr. Radford was the son of the late, Albert Sidney Radford,Jr. and the late Cordelia Grace Booker Radford of Smithville, GA. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and received his masters degree from Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA., and served his country with honor in the United States Army. Mr. Radford coached football for Lincolnton, Sparta, Fort Valley, Jones County and Manchester. He later was employed by the Lincoln County Board of Education as principle at the Lincoln County Elementary School from 1977 until his retirement in 1989. Mr. Radford was a member of the Lions Club, Bass Club, Rocky Branch Golf Club, Lincoln County Historical Society and the Lincolnton United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Carole Miller Radford; one daughter, Elizabeth Grace "Beth" Ashmore and husband, Dave of Lincolnton; one son, Albert Sidney "Hal" Radford, IV of Lincolnton; three granddaughters, Beatrice Grace Ashmore, Hudson Leslie Radford and Sydney Bryson Radford; two grandsons, Thomas Maxwell "Max" Ashmore and Zebullon Radford "Zeb" Ashmore; one sister-in-law, Betty Miller Wilkins and husband, Billy of Hollywood, S.C.; one aunt, Gladys Booker Decker and husband, Chuck of Anchorage, AK.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
