HICKORY, N.C. - Mr. Alton Emmett Edmunds, 82, entered into rest on Friday, April 1, 2016, at Abernathy Laurels.
Mr. Edmunds was born February 18, 1934, in Greenwood, S.C., to the late Robert Emmett Edmunds and the late Nannie Louise Goldman Edmunds. He was retired after 48 years from Milliken & Company as a Chemist. Mr. Edmunds was a member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church in Hickory, N.C.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Dorothy Reese Edmunds; son, Terrell Edmunds and wife, Peggy; three daughters, Deborah Horton and husband, James, Jan Folk and husband, Thomas, Brooke White and husband, Mark; five grandchildren, April Vogt and husband, Andy, Brandalyn Connor and husband, Charles IV, Kelly White, Christin White and Caleb White; three great-grandchildren, Logan Bishop, Harrison Vogt, and Charles "Quinn" Connor V; two sisters, Bernice Wilson and Linda Arrowood; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
The funeral service will at 3 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2016 at Martin's Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Reese LeRoy and Rev. James James officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Byron Arrowood, Bob Wilson, Mark Burt, Dwayne Reese, Jimmy Griffith and Jamie Cox.
If so desired memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of the service on Monday, April 4, 2016 at Martin's Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church in Lincolnton, GA.
The family will hold a memorial service in Hickory, N.C. at a later date.
