IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arnold
Adams
July 18, 1931 – February 28, 2022
WASHINGTON, GA - Reuben "Arnold" Adams, 90, of Washington, GA passed away peacefully on February 28, 2022. A lifetime Wilkes County resident, he was born in Danburg on July 18, 1931 to Mollie Saxon of Wilkes County, GA and Reuben Adams of Hart County, GA. He was married to Dorla D. Corbett for 64 years, until her death in 2017.
The graveside service with military honors will be at 12 noon on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Sardis Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Jim Newsome officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.
Arnold may be best known for his healing skills: stitching wounds, delivering babies, and setting broken bones. "Doctoring" people in the community was his life's work. He became the first person in the state of Georgia to be granted a Physician's Assistant's license based on his years of experience.
Arnold entered the service September 30, 1949 RA, 0861, Med. Corps where he served as a Surgical Technician and was honorably discharged December 9,1952. He then served from February 21, 1956 to February 20, 1959 in the Georgia National Guard. He was awarded two Marksmanship Badges during his service with Hq Btry 214th AAA Gp GaARNG.
He is survived by two daughters, Deanie Busch (John) of Charlottesville, VA and Denise Blaschke of Arnoldsville, GA; his three grandchildren Adam Blaschke of Brookhaven, GA, Jessie Busch of Charlottesville, VA, Molly Blaschke Deas (Daniel) and great-granddaughter Tallulah Chandler Deas of Newnan, GA; and brother Vernon Adams of Washington, GA. He was preceded in death by sister Maude Morti and brothers Lawrence, Carl and O'Neil Adams.
Arnold developed a gift for woodworking later in life. His swings, benches, arbors and birdhouses have adorned many a yard over the years. It was a running family joke that no matter where he went in the world, he was bound to come across someone he knew. His sweet smile, playful sense of humor, and gentle heart will be greatly missed.
A heartfelt thank you to his caregiver Joanne Buley, the staff at Southern Manor and Piedmont Hospital, and his community of neighbors, for their kindness, care, and friendship.
If so desired memorial contributions may be made to Sardis Baptist Church, in care of Mr. Wesley Echols, 271 Winfrey Rd., Rayle, GA 30660 or to T. J. & Friends Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 6161, Elberton, GA 30635 or to a charity of one's choice.
