LINCOLNTON, GA. - Mrs. Betty Ivey Holloway, 88, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 15, 2018.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Bart Grey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Clark Holloway, Tyson Turner, Tripp Williams, Brian Coghill and Bruce Rowland.
Mrs. Holloway, daughter of the late William Clyde Ivey and the late Lillie Stevenson Ivey, was a lifelong resident of Lincoln County. Following graduation from Lincolnton High School in 1947, she graduated from Augusta Business School. In 1951, she married Allen Holloway. Mrs. Holloway served as secretary for numerous offices at the Lincoln County Courthouse, including the Office of the Ordinary and the Clerk of Court, before retiring as the Clerk to the County Commissioners . Mrs. Holloway was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church throughout her life serving as church pianist, Sunday School teacher, and treasurer for the UMW for 58 years. Mrs. Holloway enjoyed cooking Sunday dinner for her family, serving her church, talking to friends on the telephone, and cheering for the Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include one daughter, Lilly H. Turner and husband, Eddy and one son, Al Holloway and wife, Nancy both of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, Anna T. Williams and husband, Tripp of Evans, GA, Tyson Turner and wife, Anitra of Chesterfield, MO, Clark Holloway and wife, Cassidy of Martinez, GA, Carly H. Coghill and husband, Brian of Savannah, GA; three great grandchildren, Turner Williams, Brooks Holloway and Everett Turner. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holloway was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Holloway.
