Obituary

Reverend Boyce Ficklen Guin, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 19th, 2025 in Thomson, Georgia at the age of 89.

The celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, December 21st, 2025 at Danburg Baptist Church with Reverend Roy Cates and Reverend Roger Hardy officiating. Interment will be at Fishing Creek Baptist Church cemetery.  A visitation with the family will be held beforehand in the church sanctuary from 2:00-3:00 pm.

Serving as pallbearers will be Garrett O'Neill, Mike Jones, Terrell Guinn, Will Bentley, Joe Riley and Jack Bentley. Honorary pallbearers will be any current or past employees of the Lincoln County School System.

Ficklen was the son of the late Boyce Ficklen Guin, Sr. and Martha Belle Hinton Guin of Danburg.  He was raised in Wilkes County, Georgia, but moved to Lincoln County after marrying the love of his life, Maudine Crook.  For 60 years he pastored churches in Lincoln County and the surrounding counties, including Double Branches Baptist Church, Loco Baptist Church, Greenwood Baptist Church, Salem Baptist Church, Friendship Baptist Church, Pine Grove Baptist Church (Thomson), and Danburg Baptist Church.  He worked in the Lincoln County School System for over 45 years, wearing many hats and serving his community with love and dedication. He was an avid Lincoln County Red Devil fan.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Maudine Guin, two sons, Kevin Guin of Danburg and Chris Guin (Jill) of Washington; two daughters, Sherry DuBois (Richie) of Danburg, and Ashley Henderson (Andy) of Simpsonville, SC; two grandchildren, Alex Henderson and Abby Henderson of Simpsonville, SC; two brothers, Roddie Guin (Rebecca) of Little River, SC and Bob Guin (Belle) of Washington; two sisters, Carol Hoffman (Dickie) of Little River, SC and Dee Morgan of Lincolnton; sister-in-law, Linda Guinn of Danburg, special family friend Yvonne Albea of Washington, and many beloved extended family members.

Ficklen was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Jackie Blackmon of Lincolnton, and his brother, Terry Guinn of Danburg.

The family would like to say a very special thank you to all of those who cared for Daddy in At Home Senior Living in Thomson during his stay there. We also want to give a special thank you to Patricia Bennett, Flontina Ferrell, Kitty Meadows and Mae Tate. Each of you showed such dedication and heart, and it did not go unnoticed. The respect and warmth all of you gave Daddy will always be remembered.
