Calvin Esley Lewis, Sr.

   Hephzibah, GA – Entered into rest on Friday, June 19, 2026, Mr. Calvin Esley Lewis, Sr., 96, loving husband of 72 years to Evelyn Lewis.

   Esley was born to the late James Roy and Pauline Lewis in Lincolnton, GA. He retired after 50 years with the Railroad. He began with C & WC, and worked with Atlanta Coast Line, Seaboard Coast Line and ended his career at CSX Transportation.

   Family members, in addition to his wife, include his children: Elaine Harper (Michael) and Cal Lewis; grandchildren: George Harper (Katie), Jacqueline Glidewell (Ross), and Logan Monteiro Lewis; great grandchildren: Mary Alice and Byrdie Elizabeth; siblings: Janis Lewis Phillips and Little Roy Lewis (Bonnie); and sisters-in-law: Betty Jean Lewis and Cornelia Lewis. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter: Susan Lewis; and siblings: Miggie Lewis, Wallace Lewis, Polly Lewis Copsey, Talmadge Lewis, and Mosley Lewis.

   The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Michael Wren officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
