LINCOLNTON, GA - Carol "Cookie" Hartley Summerlin went home to Jesus on January 17, 2023 at age 67.

Cookie was born to Kenneth and Mary Hartley [Earnest] on March 14, 1955 in Miami, Florida. Growing up and into adulthood, she treasured her time with her horse, Chief, and spending time on the white sandy beaches of South Florida.

Cookie met her beloved husband, Don Summerlin, in 2002 in Lincolnton, Georgia, when he was a neighbor of her mother's friend. They married in 2008 and built their dream home on Don's land. She was so incredibly proud of the home they shared.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife and mother, Cookie also loved spending time on the beach, camping with her family and friends, kayaking on the lake, and tending her garden. Cookie held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.

Cookie joins her father Kenneth and her mother Mary in Heaven. She is survived by her husband, Don Summerlin; her two daughters; Crystal O'Neal and Vanessa O'Neal-Flaherty; her stepdaughter, Dianne Clark (Jimmy); her stepson Donnie Summerlin (Elizabeth); her stepdaughter Jenni Hand (Damion); her brothers, Dennis Hartley (Anna) and David Hartley; her nieces, Athena and Amara Steinkraus and Heather Hartley; her grandsons, Declan and Keegan Flaherty; her step grandchildren, Eleanor, Charlotte, Josey, Ansley, and Fisher; and all of her chosen family in the fast friends she made during her journey.

A service will be held at Pine Grove Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 11am. Fellowship will follow a simple service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Pine Grove Methodist Church, 3449 Pine Grove Church Rd., Lincolnton, GA 30817.
