WASHINGTON, GA - Mr. Charles Edward Chafin, 90, of Cloverhurst Dr. entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at his residence.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Bethel Church of Wilkes County with Rev. Brenda Vandiver and Rev. Charles Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service in the church sanctuary. Interment with military honors will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be David McAvoy, Roger McAvoy, David Chafin, Whit Chafin, Casey Chafin and Tyler Chaney.
Mr. Chafin was a lifelong resident of Wilkes County and the son of the late William Boyce Chafin and the late Mary Brown Chafin. He was a veteran who served his country with honor in the United States Army and retired as an Operation Supervisor with Operations Management International. Charles enjoyed gardening and was a member of Bethel Church of Wilkes County where he served as the church treasurer.
Survivors include one son, Steve Chafin and wife, Mary Beth of Forsyth, GA; daughter-in-law, Donna Chafin of Washington, GA; four grandchildren, Casey, Brittni, Whit and Lauren; five great grandchildren, Bella, Brady, Cooper, Bennett and Owen.  Mr. Chafin was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Amelia Cofer Chafin; a son, Scott Chafin; and a brother William Boyce Chafin, Jr.
