IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Emory
Ware, Sr.
May 1, 1930 – July 22, 2024
LINCOLNTON, GA - Mr. Charles Emory Ware, Sr., 94, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 22, 2024 at his residence on Metasville Rd.
Born May 1, 1930 in the Lovelace community, he spent his entire life – with the exception of his military assignments - in Lincoln County, Georgia.
Charles served in the US Air Force and, later, the Georgia National Guard. He was co-owner and operator of Farmers Hardware for many years, while at the same time, taking care of the family farm and working for the US post office (for 40 years). He was a farmer and cattleman at heart, and his greatest pleasure was working with his cows. He was still cutting and baling hay at age 90! He was a member of the American Legion Post 194 for 71 years and a Master Mason of Lodge No 354 for over 66 years. He served on the Lincoln County Board of Education as a member and chairman for 25 years. And he was an avid Red Devils fan and supporter, never missing a home or away game until he was in his 80's. Charles was also a faithful member of the Hardee's Breakfast Club, sharing coffee, sausage biscuits, and fellowship with old (and a few new) friends every morning.
Charles was a faithful member of Anthony Chapel church his entire life and served in multiple leadership roles throughout his adult life. One of his greatest recent joys has been seeing his little church grow from fewer than 20 people in attendance to over 100 in recent months. He told folks for years that he hoped to live to see the church full again for Sunday services and we are so happy that he was able to see his vision come true.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jerry Bugg Ware, his parents, Walter and Gladys Ware, and a sister, Lenora Ware Danner. He is survived by his sister and best friend, Joan Ware Smith; his children: Charles Emory Ware, Jr and wife Susan, Julie Ware Copelan and husband , Bruce, Susan Ware Colvin and husband, Marshall; grandchildren: Cynthia Ware Gordon, Russell Copelan, Kellie Webster and husband, Will, Randall Copelan, Casey Colvin, Chase Colvin and wife, Maggie and Curry Colvin; great grandchildren: Lillie and Mallory Webster, Jackson Gordon, and Daisy Colvin ; step-grandchildren Gene, Patrick, Sherry and Chris Bussell; and step-great grandchildren: Olivia, Ryan and Will Bussell.
The celebration of life service will be conducted by Rev. David Bohling at Anthony Chapel Church at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2024. Interment will follow with military honors in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Rees Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons and Dale Partlow. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the "Hardee's Breakfast Club".
The family request that in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions may be made to Anthony Chapel Church, PO Box 38, Lincolnton GA.
