Obituary

LINCOLNTON, GA. - Mr. Charles G. Wurst, Jr., 70 of Amity Woodlawn Rd. entered into rest on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta, GA. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Lincolnton Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Williamson officiating. Interment will follow in the Lincolnton City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Wade Hall, Flint Matthews, Lee Partridge, Marcus Spratlin, Rusty Spratlin and Hillyer Wright, Jr. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Lincolnton Baptist Church and members of Gideon's International. Mr. Wurst was retired from the United States Department of Agriculture as Lincoln County's Executive Director for 22 years and was a cattle farmer. He was a member of Gideon's International and the Lincoln County Cattlemen's Association. Mr. Wurst was a devoted member of Lincolnton Baptist Church where he served as deacon and was the Young Adult Sunday School Class Teacher for over 40 years. Survivors include his beloved wife of 30 years, Jacquelyn R. Wurst; three children, Charles G. Wurst, III and wife, Stacy of Athens, GA., Lisa W. Harvey and husband, Samuel of Evans, GA. and Randy Wurst and wife, Vickie of Grovetown, GA.; two step-children, Cynthia Parker and husband, Starr of Seattle, WA. and Amy Zabel of Augusta, GA.; mother, Ester Smith Wurst of Meigs, GA.; brother, John G. Wurst and wife, Patricia of Tallahassee, FL.; ten grandchildren, Noelle Parker, Dylan Parker, Morgan Wurst, Mackenzie Wurst, Charlie Harvey, Clara Wurst, George Wurst, Emma Wurst, Sophie Wurst and Jack Wurst. Mr. Wurst was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Maxwell Wurst; father, Charles G. Wurst, Sr. and sister, Mary W. Roberts.
