Obituary

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Claude Jackson Crook, age 86, who peacefully passed away on May 3, 2024, at his sister Linda Tunnell's home in Winder, Georgia.

Jackson, born on April 22, 1938, in Lincolnton, Georgia, was a man deeply rooted in his family and community. He began his journey at Claussen's bakery in Augusta before returning home to work alongside his late parents, Claude "Bo" and Melva Crook, in the family chicken business. Later, he found a new path at Reed Poultry and eventually Reed Ice, where he dedicated his time until retirement.

A man of simple pleasures, Jackson found joy in fishing, cheering on NASCAR races, and passionately supporting Georgia Tech's Rambling Wreck and the Lincoln County Red Devils. His home was a gathering place for friends, affectionately known as "Jackson's Social Club," where stories were shared and laughter echoed.

For 55 years, Jackson shared his life with his beloved late wife, Jackie Crook. Together, they found happiness in their family. Jackson is survived by their daughter Brandi Longo (Dave), his sister Linda Tunnell, and his stepson DeWayne Evans (Connie). He cherished every moment with his grandchildren, Kayne Evans (Rebecca) of Anderson, SC, and Lindley Pennekamp (Alex) of Charleston, SC, as well as his adored great-grandchildren, Hudson, Owen, Tillman Evans, and Evans Pennekamp.

As a member of Morningside Baptist Church, Jackson's faith was a guiding light, shaping his life and providing him strength and comfort.

As he joins his Savior Jesus Christ, his late wife, parents, and cherished family members in Heaven, Jackson leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Morningside Baptist Church, with Pastor Ray Farrow and Rev. DeWayne Evans officiating. Following the service, friends and family are invited to gather in the church sanctuary.

The family extends their gratitude for the outpouring of support, calls, texts, and prayers during this difficult time.

If so desired memorial contributions may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 483 Elm Street, Lincolnton, GA 30817.
