LINCOLNTON, GA. - Elder Comer "Elton" Lawson, 81 of North Washington St. entered through the Gates of Heaven at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at his residence. A celebration of Rev. Lawson's life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2014 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Thomas Moon and Rev. Bob Harrington officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Aycock, Doug Aycock, Tommy Boose, Ryan King, Chase Lawson, and Bobby Smith. Rev. Lawson was the son of the late Floyd Thomas Lawson and the late Josephine Luke Lawson of Tifton, GA. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country honorably during the Korean Conflict and a recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge. Rev. Lawson was a minister of the gospel for over 58 years and a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Vergie M. Lawson; one son, Gerald S. Lawson and wife, Holly of Lincolnton; one daughter, Abbe L. Boose and husband, Thomas of Hillsborough, GA.; five grandchildren, Kelli L. Radford and husband, Casey, Bobby Smith, Ryan King, Tommy Boose and Benjamin "Chase" Lawson. Rev. Lawson was preceded in death by a grandson, Gerald S.
