Obituary

BELVEDERE, S.C. - Mr. David A. "Pete" Bentley, 78, of 104 Edna St. entered into rest on Monday, August 13, 2012 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga. The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Salem Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Deryl Odom officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Bentley, Trey Barger, Jordan Clayton, John Brinson, Brad Lewis and Royce McWee. Mr. Bentley was the son of the late Clyde Callaway Bentley and the late Agnes Purdue Bentley of the Woodlawn community in Lincoln County Ga. He was a retired truck driver, served in the National Guard in Washington, Ga. for 12 years and one year of active duty with the United States Army during the Cuban crisis. Pete was also an active member of a country line dancing exhibition group called "The Country Kickers." He performed with the group from 1990 until 2005. Survivors include a son, David Dean Bentley of Union Point, Ga. and a daughter, Tammy Bentley-Rosema of Augusta, Ga.; three grandsons, Joshua Bentley, Forester "Trey" Barger and Taylor Rosema; and a companion of twenty-two years, Anne Pitcher.
