Obituary
Lincolnton, GA.-
Edna Holsomback Bailey, 90 joined her beloved husband, son and parents in heaven on Tuesday, February 2, 2016.
She passed away at Lake Crossing Healthcare Center after several weeks of declining health as a result of a hip fracture.
Edna is survived by her children Lindy Bailey Byrd (Wilmer), and Richard Wayne Bailey (Linda) and her sisters Evelyn Holsomback Smith, and JoAnn Holsomback Jones.
Her grandchildren include Todd Douglas Turner, Carla Byrd Matthews (Flint), James Edward Bailey, Jr., Nicole Bailey Jackson (Rob),and
Andrew Denham Bailey.
She is also survived by her great grandchildren Marie Louise Matthews, Mitchell Flint Matthews, Jr., and Bailey McClearen Jackson, and her beloved companion Chloe.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Baxter Bailey and her son James Edward Bailey as well as her parents Joseph and Estelle Holsomback.
Affectionately known as Big Mama, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a life-long resident of Lincoln County and member of Salem Baptist Church.
She retired from Oxford Manufacturing Company, and she was well-known as an excellent seamstress.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Martin and Brother Bob Rayner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons.
Visitation will be Thursday February 4, 2016 at 10am at Salem Baptist Church with services to follow at 11 am.
The family would like to thank staff of Lake Crossing Healthcare, Alliance Hospice, and Dr. Darryl Wiley for their excellent care.
