Mr. Fred A. "Al" Drinkwater, 67, beloved husband of Brenda Smalley Drinkwater entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at his residence in Moore, SC.

The memorial service with military honors and masonic rites will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2024 at the Lewis Family Pavilion in the Lincoln County Historical Park with Rev. Tom Smalley officiating.

Fred Albert Drinkwater was born in Albemarle hospital in Elizabeth City in Pasquotank County North Carolina on July 11, 1957, and was the son of the late Virginia Doris Jackson Drinkwater and the late Fred Drinkwater Sr.. He attended Hines College in Jackson Mississippi, Spartanburg Technical College, and Kingston University. He joined the U.S. Navy and served his country with honor on the USS Bowen. He fought bravely in Lebanon in 1983 for his country. He also served on the USS Stonewall Jackson submarine. After Navy service, Al returned to the gulf coast to work in the oil fields of Louisiana and Texas. He also worked at International Paper, Starbucks, BMW, Marriott and Hyatt corporations. After retirement, Al spent time with his family and grandchildren living in Moore, SC.

Mr. Drinkwater is survived by his wife Brenda Smalley Drinkwater, one son, Jeffery Padgett, one daughter Julie P. Jones, one daughter in law Alicia C. Padgett, and four grandchildren Charlee Ann Jones, Mary Caroline Jones, Julian Padgett, and Mila Padgett. Mr. Drinkwater was also preceded in death along with his parents by a sister, Linda Jewell.
