CUMMING, GA. - Mrs. Glennie Maude McCurry Norman, 89, of 5635 Twelve Oaks Dr. entered into rest on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Embracing Hospice Home in Cumming, GA. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Thomson Georgia on Monday, November 25, 2013 with Rev. W.C. Bentley and Rev. John Barnes officiating. Serving as pallbearers will Randall Matthews, Manuel Bailey, Bobby Blount, Stan Tankersley, Hal Radford and Billy Wilkens. Mrs. Norman was the daughter of the late George Glen McCurry and the late Mattie Maude Allen McCurry of Lincoln County, GA. She was owner and operator of Norman's Groceries and Fishing Supplies for 21 years. She later was owner and operator of Gibson Drug Store for a number of years until her retirement. Mrs. Norman was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served on the Official Board, Board of Trustees, the Parsonage Committee, past president and teacher for a number of years of the J.O.Y. Sunday School Class. She also served as a Youth Counselor for the Augusta District, serving the Washington Zone and the Advance Sub Districts as well. Her motto was "When you help to mold the life of a child, you help to change the world." Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth N. Kein and husband, Hans of Cumming; two granddaughters, Elisabeth Lynn Kenovich and husband, Dave of Orlando, FL. and Amanda Glenn Kein and friend, Josh Tyson of Gainesville, GA.; brother, Pierce McCurry and wife, Jill of Blue Ridge, GA.; one sister, Patsy McCurry Warner and husband Robert "Bob" of Lincolnton; five sisters-in-law, June McCurry of Griffin, GA., Margurite McCurry of Gainesville, GA., Sylvia McCurry of Lincolnton, Jean McCurry of Jonesboro, GA., Estelle Pippings and husband, Bill of Charleston, S.C., Mary Emma Becham of Charleston, S.C. and Juanita Norman of Elberton, GA. Mrs. Norman was preceded in death by her husband, of 48 years, John Leonard Norman; daugher, Glennie Lynn Norman; sisters, Ruby Matthews and husband, Auby, Wardell Briceno and husband, Gustavo, Beatrice Miller and husband, Tommy, Florie Edmunds and husband, William, Joann Ferguson and husband, Hammond; brothers, Robert "Bobby" McCurry, Allen McCurry, Donald McCurry, Roger McCurry and a brother-in-law, Harry Partridge.
