Obituary

Mrs. Helen Smalley Parks, 94, the beloved wife of the late Bobby C. Parks, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at her
residence, surrounded by family.

The Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, January 30, at 11:00 am at the Lincolnton City Cemetery with the Reverend Tripp Goodwin and Reverend Tom Smalley officiating. Visitation will be held at Rees Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Parks was born January 16, 1931, one of 7 children, of the late Thomas Fortson Smalley, Sr. and the late Ruth Bohler Smalley. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Mrs. Parks was loved and cherished by her family, friends, church and community. She was a faithful member of Lincolnton Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She also served for a time with the youth ministry and the community's prison ministry. Mrs. Parks and her husband were owners of Parks TV and Appliances in Lincolnton for many years before retirement.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Thomas, LuAnn Beale (Billy), Linda Parks, and Elaine Houston (Reid): grandchildren: Russ Cartledge,
Scott Beale (Sara), Ashley Suesserman (Justin), Brittany Cantrell (Johnny), Tyler Beale (Ashley), Lauren Thomson (Bradley), Savannah Rachels, and Kaitlin Josey (Michael). Great grandchildren include Addie Claxton, Ryan Nicole Cantrell, Hallie Beale, Emma Suesserman, and Miles Suesserman.

In addition to Mrs. Parks' parents and husband, she was also proceeded in death by her son-in-law, Lowell Thomas and her siblings, Thomas F. Smalley, Jr., James Smalley, Louise Smalley, Myrtle S. Flint, Clarence Smalley and Edward Smalley.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Ricky LeRoy and Mike McCombs who always took such excellent care of her.
