LINCOLNTON, GA - Mrs. Eula Holloway (Hollie) Williamson Cartledge, 87, died on Saturday, December 22, at her home in Lincolnton.
Hollie was born in Wilkes County to the late Walter and Estelle Williamson on September 27, 1931. She grew up in Wilkes County, moving to Lincolnton when she married William (Billy) Crawford Cartledge, Jr. on April 7, 1950.
She is survived by her husband, Billy; sons Tony (Susan) of Apex, NC, Jeff (Melinda) of Hartwell, and Don (Cindy) of Lincolnton; grandchildren Russ Cartledge of Augusta, Laura (Dustin) Dyer of Merritt Island, FL, Grant (Kristen) Cartledge of Lincolnton; Kristen (Jake) Hampton of Chickamauga; Ashton (Chuck) Byrne of Lincolnton, Samuel Cartledge of Raleigh; and seven great-children: Lucas and Addy Dyer (Laura), Hudler and Fulton Cartledge (Grant), Rhett and Asher Byrne (Ashton), and James Hampton (Kristen). She was predeceased by granddaughter Bethany (Tony).
Hollie was a member of Lincolnton Baptist Church, where she was active throughout her adult life, singing in the choir for many years, traveling with the seniors, and making baby quilts with the Singing Needles.
Hollie was widely known for her cheerful and helpful spirit while working at the former women's and children's clothing store in Lincolnton known as "The Little Shop." As long as they were able, she and husband Billy were regular supporters of the Red Devil football team.
Hollie enjoyed cooking, quilting, art, and travel, but most of all her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, to whom she was known as "Mama Hollie."
Funeral services will be held at Lincolnton Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 26, at 2:00 p.m with Rev. Tripp Goodwin officiating. The family will receive friends at the church social hall from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lincolnton Baptist Church Bus Ministry Fund, P.O. Box 357, Lincolnton, GA 30817 .
Pallbearers are Russ Cartledge, Grant Cartledge, Dustin Dyer, Jake Hampton, Chuck Byrne, and Jesse Williamson.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the T.E.L. Sunday School Class and the W.M.U.
