IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jackie
Crook
October 1, 1942 – September 16, 2022
LINCOLNTON, GA - Mrs. Jackie Faye Bratcher Crook, wife of 55 years to Jackson Crook and mother to Brandi Longo and husband, Dave of Lincolnton, GA and DeWayne Evans and wife, Connie of Belton, SC, entered into the arms of Jesus on Friday September 16, 2022 surrounded by family and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Morningside Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Ray Farrow and Rev. DeWayne Evans. The family will have a time of visitation after the service.
Jackie was born October 1, 1942 to the Late J.T. and Addis Bratcher in Belton, SC. She is survived by two brothers, Paul and Dennis Bratcher of Belton, SC, and two sisters, Janie Turnage of Abbeville, SC and Allene Phillips of Honea Path, SC. She is also survived by a "sister from another mother," Cookie Schmidt, of Lincolnton, GA. Jackie was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Dariety and three brothers, Johnny Bratcher, Allen Bratcher and Danny Bratcher.
Jackie moved to Lincolnton in 1966 and opened the Pretty Ladies Beauty Salon, where she served the Lincoln County and surrounding communities through the profession of cosmetology for over 50 years. She called her customers family and they knew it by the way she would make house calls for those who were sick or fix her famous chicken and dumplings when there was a need. She loved her hometown and being a part of many organizations and volunteering, serving Veterans as a member and leader in the Ladies Auxiliary Post 194, and serving through Morningside Baptist Church, the church family with which she so dearly felt blessed. The family would like to say thank you to Morningside and Pastor Ray for being there for us.
Jackie is also survived by her grandchildren who were the light of her life and subject of much of her conversation, Kayne Evans and wife, Rebecca of Anderson, SC and Lindley Pennekamp and husband, Alex of Charleston, SC.
She loved to show off pictures and talk about her four great-grands, Hudson, Owen, and Tillman Evans of Anderson, and Evans Pennekamp of Charleston.
Jackie was well known for her chicken and dumplings and would whip up a batch for or anyone in need as she always felt it a blessing to do something for someone else. She was a true example of Christian service as demonstrated in 1 Corinthians 10:24, which says "Let no one seek his own good, but that of his neighbor." She loved to cook and share her gifts with everyone.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Wills Memorial Hospital for their concern and care for Jackie, and would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Williams for his constant care and concern while Jackie was in the hospital.
The family respectfully request that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Morningside Baptist Church, 483 Elm Street, Lincolnton, GA 30817.
