Obituary

   Mr. James Morris Prescott, 87, entered into eternal rest surrounded by his family on Monday, August 24, 2026 at his residence on Clary Road.

   The celebration of life service will be at 12 noon on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Morningside Baptist Church with Pastor Ray Farrow officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta, GA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 am until 12 noon on Thursday at Morningside Baptist Church.

   Serving as pallbearers will be James Prescott, Jr., Kevin Munro, Mitchell Munro, Ben Hutto, Mike Dewberry and Joe Kennedy. 

   James was born in Edgefield, SC to Edward and Alva Prescott. He worked as a Welder at Georgia Iron works in Grovetown, GA for 15 years. Following their move to Lincolnton GA, James started Prescott’s Trucking Co. from which he retired. 

   James was an outdoorsman who loved horses, dogs, motorcycles and camping at Riverbend Campground in Hiawasee GA. Grandads’ favorite thing to do was deer hunt with his son and grandsons.

   James was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

   Survivors include his wife of 45 years Lavonia Prescott; Four children, daughters Pam Hutto, Janet Kelley (George), son James Prescott Jr. and daughter Lisa Munro; Nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Randolph Prescott and sister Hazel Dewberry.
