Martinez, GA. - Mr. John Marion Ivey, 82, of Greenfield Abbey Ct. entered into rest on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at University Hospital in Augusta, GA. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Rees Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Danner officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Hephziah Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dick Benson, Marion Butler, Carl Ivey, Phil Ivey, Chris Martin and Chuck Martin. Mr. Ivey was the son of the late William Thomas Ivey, Sr. and the late Ruth Willingham Ivey of Lincolnton, GA. He was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served his country with honor during the Korean War. Mr. Ivey was a graduate of Georgia Tech where he received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering and later retired from DuPont as an Industrial Engineer. Survivors include one daughter, Cappy Ivey Polk and husband, Jerry of Holly Springs, N.C.; one son, Martin Thomas Ivey of Martinez, GA.; two grandchildren, Alexandria Polk and Jared Polk; and several nieces and nephews.
