Mr. John Kenneth Koone, 91, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 17, 2025 at Eisenhower Medical Center in Augusta, GA.

Ken was the son of the late Lucious Carl Koone and the late Sudie Louise McNeill Smith of Ware Shoals, SC. Ken retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force after honorably serving his country for over twenty years. He was quite an outdoorsman that loved traveling. His travels included several hunting and fishing expeditions to the backwoods of Alaska. Ken and his beloved wife, Janey loved to travel to fun destinations with friends and they both loved to dance. At weddings and parties, their captivating dancing drew the attention and
admiration of all who watched. Ken was a man of integrity who dearly loved his family and church. Ken served as a member and church elder at Pine Grove United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane "Janey" Koone; one son, David Kenneth Koone of Lincolnton, one daughter, Kelly Jean Dixon and husband, Bryan of Appling; eight grandchildren, David Kenneth Koone, Jr. and wife, Sara, Bradley Aaron Koone and wife, Caitlin, Amanda Nicole and husband, Jon Carter, Haley Christine Montgomery, Connor Beasley Dixon, William Davis Montgomery, Sawyer Walt Dixon and Brooks Ashley Dixon; five great grandchildren, Adalynn Koone, Elizabeth Koone, Kaiden Carter, Connelly Koone and Colson Koone; two sisters, Doris Virginia Kennen of Augusta, GA and Iris Kay Stratton and husband, Gary of Greenwood, SC. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jana Lackey; and granddaughter, Taryn Lackey.

The celebration of life service will begin at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with Pastor Bart Grey officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday, at Pine Grove United Methodist Church.

Serving as pallbearers will be George Zustak, Larry Tyler, Danny Aycock, Garnett Wallace, Charles Wallace and Furman Parton. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the men of Pine Grove United Methodist Church.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions may be made to Pine Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3449 Pine Grove Church Rd., Lincolnton, GA 30817.
