Lois Baker
Davis
Aug 24, 1932 — May 15, 2026
Lois Baker Davis passed away on May 15, 2026, at Piedmont Healthcare of Thomson, surrounded by family. Born on August 24, 1932, in Augusta, Georgia, she dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family, creating a warm and welcoming home, and blessing all who knew her. She was affectionately known as "MaMa" or “LoLo” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Above all else, Lois was a strong woman of faith and a prayer warrior who deeply loved Jesus.
Quick to smile and always ready for a good laugh, Lois cherished spending time with her loved ones. She especially loved babies and children. Lois was a wonderful cook and could often be found in her kitchen preparing delicious Southern food for the people that she loved. She also enjoyed shopping, traveling, and spending time working in her garden.
Lois is lovingly remembered by her children and their families: Manis Henry Davis (Joanna) of Thomson, Georgia; Carol Davis Chaney (Steve) of Appling, Georgia; James Michael Davis (Julie) of Grovetown, Georgia; Stephen Richard Davis of Valdosta, Georgia; and Connie Marie Davis of Hoschton, Georgia. Her legacy continues through fourteen cherished grandchildren (Tyffani, Eric, Stephen, Charlie, Julie, Emmie, Lindsey, Taylor, James, Barrett, Lauren, Zach, Alex and Katie) and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Berry Baker and Marie Dillie Baker; her beloved husband of 57 years, Manis Teasley Davis; her daughter, Judith Patricia Gilman; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Holliday Davis; and her brother, Willie Berry Baker.
Lois showed us what it means to live a selfless life. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, laughter, faith, generosity and strength. Her memory and spirit will forever be a blessing to all who knew her.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of At Home Senior Living of Thomson for the love and care they gave Lois over the past year. And also to Carol, Joanna and Tyffani for the exemplary love and care that they gave at home.
The celebration of life service will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Addison Belangia officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at Rees Funeral Home.
