Obituary

Mr. Louis John Hite, 77, entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at his residence on Humphrey Street, Lincolnton, Georgia. He was born January 7, 1948 to his proud parents Victor Lewis Hite and Pauline Marie Schmitt Hite who preceded him in death.

Louis was born and raised in Altoona, PA; a graduate of the Class of 1965 Bishop Guilfoyle High School. For those who knew Louis (Louie to most), they will remember him fondly for his care-free spirit and sports enthusiasm; especially football and his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers; basketball and golf. To start each day, Louis would spend hours relaxing in the screen porch with a cup of coffee and his tablet as he read the Altoona Mirror and the Palm Beach Post newspapers, worked several crossword puzzles, (welcomed the challenge of completing the New York Times puzzles.) In the evenings, he would unwind by watching his favorite television shows: The Big Bang, Friends, Jeopardy, and an overdose of ESPN!

Louis is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Darlene; daughters Autumn Marie Hite Martin (Gregory) of Vero Beach, FL and Camie Tibbs, Columbus, OH; his siblings Janet Hite (Louise Cohan), Topton, PA; Christine Hite, Austin, TX; Kathy Hite Westly (Don), Altoona, PA; Nelson Hite (Rhonda), State College, PA; Denny Hite (Patty), Altoona, PA; and Linda Hite (Rick Barnes) Altoona, PA; several grandchildren (sadly, our beloved Quinton Martin, Vero Beach, FL preceded him in death at the age of 12 in 2013); great grands, nieces, nephews and countless friends in the Altoona, PA area; his former home church family Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, West Palm Beach, FL and Ebenezer Baptist Church family and community in Lincolnton, GA.

The celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the repass following at the Lincolnton Club House.
