THOMSON, GA - Mrs. Verna Louise Maloof, 88, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the Mt. Pleasant Assisted Living Home in Thomson.
Mrs. Maloof was the daughter of the late William Lewis Smith and the late Sadie Mae McKissack Smith of Tupelo, Mississippi. She cherished the time with her family and serving the Lord at Hephzibah Baptist Church. Mrs. Maloof enjoyed gardening and arts and crafts.
Survivors include a son, Jeff Maloof and wife, Laura of Greensboro, GA.; a daughter, Denise Maloof of Lincolnton, GA.; two grandchildren, Carson Maloof of Bonaire, GA. and Hayden Free and husband, Tanner of Cochran, GA.; one brother, Kenneth Smith and wife, Evelyn of Zephyrhills, FL.; one sister,, Emily Lamons of Tupelo, MS.; brother-in-law, Wayne DeMuse of Washington, GA.; two sisters-in-law, Dara Smith of Tupelo, MS. and Sara Smith of Tupelo, MS. and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Maloof was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Elmo Maloof.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Hephzibah Baptist Church with Rev. Elliott Smith and Rev. Allen Danner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Thurmond, Ronnie Johnson, Wayne DeMuse, David Cooper, Larry Lamons and Will Lamons.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2023 at Rees Funeral Home, 195 N Peachtree St., Lincolnton, GA. 706-359-3222.
