LINCOLNTON, GA. - Mr. Lowell M. Thomas, 76 of Bay Shore Dr. entered into rest on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at his residence. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Lowell M. Thomas will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Lincolnton Baptist Church with Rev. Leonard Thompson and Rev. Tripp Goodwin officiating. Mr. Thomas was the son of James E. Thomas and Cora Stillie Thomas of Winston Salem, N.C. He graduated high school from Walkertown High School in Walkertown, N.C. and continued his education as a graduate of Presyth Jr. College in Maxton, N.C. and Applachain State. Mr. Thomas received his masters from the University of Virginia and specialist degree from University of North Carolina. He was a retired high school principal and a member of Loves United Methodist Church. Lowell was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved his Tar Heels. Survivors include his wife, Kathy P. Thomas; six children, Angie Thomas of Raleigh, N.C., Christie Savage of Charlottesville, VA., Rock Thomas and wife, Melissa of Daleville, VA., Michelle Dobbins and husband Peter of Raleigh, N.C., Russ Cartledge of Augusta and Brittany Thomas of Lincolnton and fiancee' Johnny Cantrell; four grandchildren, Morgan Powell, Mason Morris, Rock Thomas, Dominick Thomas; one great granddaughter, Annika Meeks; two brothers, Wayne Thomas and wife, Cleta of Rural Hill, N.C. and Danny Thomas and wife, Sheree of Walnut Cove, N.C.; one sister, Gaye Harper and husband, Bud of Kernersville, N.C.
