LINCOLNTON, GA. - Mrs. Marie Tuttle Scott, 93, widow of Gilbert N. "Scottie" Scott, entered into rest on Thursday, July 13, 2017. Born in Honey Grove, Texas, she lived in Augusta for many years prior to moving to Lincolnton, GA. four years ago. She is survived by her children  Douglas Scott and wife, Debbie of Atlanta, Gary Scott of Atlanta and Susan Bussell Ware and husband, Emory of Lincolnton; her grandchildren, Sherrye Bussell, Gene Bussell, Patrick Bussell, Chris Bussell, Matthew Scott, Rob Scott, Saxony Scott Betts and Cynthia Ware Gordon; eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by three siblings, Flora Stockton of Lubbock, TX., Nora Morris of Houston, TX and Clifford Tuttle of O'Fallon, MO. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Rebecca Bussell Dutton and two sisters, Claudia Tuttle Marberry and Ruth Tuttle Rockey.


Marie lived in Germany with her family while her husband was in the Army and she developed a love of traveling. Between age 65 and 85, traveling with friends and seniors groups, she visited 21 different countries. She worked for Channel Realty for many years, retiring when she was 80. She said recently that the best thing she ever did was move to Lincolnton, GA. She was a member of Anthony Chapel United Methodist Church in Lincolnton.

In recent years, she especially enjoyed her great grandchildren, "her" hummingbirds and Wednesday evenings at Anthony Chapel.

The funeral service will be conducted by Rev. David Bohling at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Anthony's Chapel UMC, 3619 Metasville Rd., Lincolnton, GA.. The family will receive visitors at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta, GA.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons.
