IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marilyn Louise
Lakeman
June 2, 1960 – January 1, 2018
GREENSBORO, GA. - Mrs. Marilyn Swan Lakeman, 57, a resident of Greensboro, Ga. entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 1, 2018.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Rees Funeral Home with Rev. John Belangia officiating
Mrs. Lakeman was the daughter of the late Arthur Earl McCormick and Louise McCormick Swan. Marilyn had a beautiful loving spirit and was a dedicated wife and mother. She was involved in philanthropic efforts her entire adult life, Safari Wish for Vets, Habitat Seed Program in distributing seed for wildlife and the care for terminally ill children . Every Christmas she would find underprivileged children to provide gifts from Santa and enjoyed working with several charities. Starting in her 20's Marilyn gave blood at every opportunity much later in life she would discover her philanthropy had been protecting her from a rare disorder known as Polycythemia vera ( a rare blood disease in which your body makes too many red blood cells. The extra red blood cells make your blood thicker than normal. As a result, blood clots can form more easily.) She was well known by all for her humor and wit to brighten any day.Her faith in Christianity was strong throughout her life and her loving spirit will be missed but never forgotten.
Survivors include her husband, James C. Lakeman; six children, Carter Minish, Colby McCauley, Jameson Lakeman, Mary Louise Givens, Grayson Givens and Davis Lakeman; one grandchild, Chloe McCauley; mother, Louise McCormick Swan; four brothers, Michael McCormick of Palm Beach, FL., Phillip McCormick of Augusta, John McCormick of Columbus GA. and Richard Swan, Jr. of Greensboro, GA.; one sister, Beverly Morgan of Augusta, GA.; fourteen nieces and nephews.
