IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Ann
Clements
November 8, 1932 – March 17, 2023
Following a difficult illness, Mary Ann Boyd Clements, 90, died on March 17, 2023, in Concord, North Carolina. She will be remembered as a woman of faith, and a person intrigued and shaped by the world around her.
After completing nursing training in South Carolina, where, in York, she grew up with eight brothers, a loving mother, and a father who was a police lieutenant, Mary Ann married Marion L. Clements, Jr., an Army man hailing from California. They enjoyed raising their three children, Mike, Beth Ann, and David, in countries around the world including Japan, France, and Germany, and states across the U.S. Eventually, the family settled in Augusta, Georgia.
Mary Ann practiced nursing in South Carolina and Japan, and then at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Augusta, where she worked on the spinal cord injury ward until her retirement.
In retirement, Mary Ann and "Big Mike" (Marion, Jr.) enjoyed rural life in Lincolnton, Georgia, where they lived for 25 years. She was a member of the Morningside Baptist Church.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by two of her three children, Elizabeth Ann and David, and her husband of 64 years, Marion. She is survived by her eldest son, Marion ("Mike"), four grandchildren—Mary Ann, Katrina, Brandon, and Danielle, five great-grandchildren, two daughters-in-law, a beloved brother, Frank, and a cherished extended family spanning the United States.
Mary Ann was the daughter of Macie Huddleston Boyd and David Jackson Boyd, Sr.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at the Lincolnton Cemetery, followed by a reception at Morningside Baptist Church.
To honor and celebrate Mary Ann, the family requests random acts of kindness.
