Obituary

LINCOLNTON, GA. - Mrs. Matile Teasley Spence, 85, wife of the late Vernon B. Spence entered into rest on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Lake Crossing Health Center in Appling Ga. There will be a graveside service at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Bethany United Methodist Church cemetery with Rev. Charles Ivey and Rev. Thomas Moon officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Banks, James Brindel, Alfred Florence, Hugh Florence, Billy McKettrick, Brad Spence, Andrew Smalley and Jack Teasley. Mrs. Spence was the daughter of the late Bedford Alfred and Della Brown Teasley. She was a retired textile worker, a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxillary Post #194. Survivors include a daughter, Joy S. Smalley and husband, Jack of Lincolnton; two sons, Forrest D. Spence and wife, Carol of Lincolnton and Barry T. Spence and Amy of Mt. Airy, N.C.; sister, Frances T. Banks of Lincolnton; six grandchildren, Pam S. Freeman and husband, Steve, Paula D. Spence, Brad Spence, Chris Smalley, Andrew Smalley and wife, Kimberly and Mandy Spence; four great grandchildren, Austin Freeman, Dakota Freeman, Carlee Spence and Hainsley Spence.
