LINCOLNTON, GA. - Mrs. Melva M. Crook ,89, wife of the late Claude H. Crook, 1224 Augusta Highway entered into rest on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Barrow Regional Medical Center, Winder, GA. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Morningside Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Fernandez and Rev Albert Stroup officiating. Interment will follow at Hephzibah Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Crook was a homemaker and a life long resident of Lincoln County. She was a charter member of Morningside Baptist Church, a member of the church choir and also taught Sunday School. Mrs. Crook worked with the Lincoln County Senior Citizens for some 24 years. She so loved others and enjoyed giving of her time to everyone. Survivors include a daughter, Linda C. Tunnell and husband, Rickey of Winder, Ga.; a son, Jackson Crook and wife Jackie of Lincolnton; one granddaughter, Brandi Masserant; two grandsons, Cecil Beggs Jr. and Dwayne Evans; two great-grandchildren, Kayne and Lindley Evans; two brothers, Robert R. Shorty Martin and Stanley E. Martin both of Evans, Ga. Mrs. Crook was preceded in death by her husband, Claude H. Crook and and a sister, Matrice Lindsey. Serving as pallbearers will be Cecil Beggs, Jr., Richard Butler, Dwayne Evans, Glenn Gentry, Mike Lindsey, Kevin Masserant, Billy Norman and Eddie Turner.
