LINCOLNTON, GA. - Mrs. Mollie Louise Ingram Wagoner, 73, of Thomson Hwy. entered into rest on Wednesday, February 3, 2016.

The memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2016 at the Lincolnton United Methodist Church with Rev. Deborah J. Griffith officiating.

Mollie Louise Ingram Wagoner died on Wednesday, February 3, in Lincolnton, Georgia. She was born March 24, 1942, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Sara Morgan Ingram and Fred Hooten Ingram, Sr.

Mollie spent her early years in Columbia, Santa Fe, and Culleoka, Tennessee. She attended Culleoka High School where she was a star basketball player. She graduated in 1960 and went to Middle Tennessee State University before transferring to Western Kentucky where she received B.S. and M. Ed. degrees in Physical Education and Recreation. She began her career with the recreation department in Atlanta, Georgia, and later became an educator. She spent the last years of her career as the head of the Pre-K programs with the Lincoln County school system. She retired in 2010. After retiring, she continued to serve as an active member of the board for Lincoln County Family Connection. Throughout her career she exhibited her great love for people and proved to be an excellent leader.

Mollie's life-long love for animals began when she was growing up in the rolling hills around Culleoka, Tennessee. As a child she raised calves for 4-H and also pigeons, chickens, turkeys, pheasants, quail, rabbits, ponies, and pigs on the family farm. She spent many happy hours riding horses. As an adult she enjoyed sharing her love for animals and the outdoors with her husband and her two sons. Together they led an active life camping and fishing and served with the Boy Scouts organization. Later she enjoyed raising goats at her home in Lincolnton, Georgia.

The great love of Mollie's life was her husband Steve who she wed in 1969. The couple spent the first few years of their marriage in his hometown of Kalama, Washington where Mollie developed close relationships with his family. The Wagoners then lived in Bellingham, Washington, but have been living in Georgia since 1974 - the last 26 of those years in Lincolnton.

Mollie took great joy in motherhood. She was a loving mother to her two sons and a devoted grandmother. She was very close to her three siblings and was an affectionate aunt for their children and grandchildren. She delighted in hosting large family gatherings. Her good humor and kind nature brought her many lasting friendships. She also enjoyed fellowship and service with her church community at Lincolnton United Methodist church.

Mollie is survived by her husband, Stephen John Wagoner, her sons, Kelly John Wagoner (Stefani) of Atlanta, and Jesse Dean Wagoner of Lincolnton, her grandchildren, Will and Ansley Wagoner, sisters Beckie Ingram Goolsby (Jim) of Augusta and Saralyn Ingram of Augusta, brother Fred Hooten Ingram, Jr. (Micky) of Lincolnton and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mollie was well-loved by her family and friends and her generous spirit and infectious enthusiasm for life were enjoyed by all who knew her.
