Lincolnton, GA. - Mrs. Mozelle Rowland Smalley, 99, beloved wife of the late Thomas Fortson Smalley, Jr., entered her Heavenly home on April 26, 2017.

The Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, April 30, at 2:00 pm at Jones Chapel, 2322 Thomson Hwy., Lincolnton with the Reverends Tom Smalley and Jonathan Brantley officiating. Interment will be in the Lincolnton City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Wood, Jackson Wood, Michael Brantley, Jonathan Brantley, Jack Smalley and Chris Smalley. Honorary pallbearers will be the caregivers at The Cooper House, The Home Place, and Regency Hospice.

Mrs. Smalley was loved and cherished by her family, friends, church, and community. Mozelle was a member of Jones Chapel Church where her son serves as pastor. She was a former member of Lincolnton Baptist Church where she was the Young Adult Sunday School Director and later became a charter member of Morningside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Smalley worked at Belk Department Store in Durham, North Carolina, and in the Payroll Department at Sibley Mill in Augusta, Georgia. Mozelle was an Avon Representative for fifteen years during which time she received awards for exceeding sales goals and achieved the prestigious membership in the President's Club.  She was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother.

Mrs. Smalley was blessed spending her last years at the Cooper House where Stephanie Searles Gray and her devoted staff took excellent care of her. She quickly earned the nickname "Sweet Mozelle". She loved and enjoyed her Cooper House family, "The Golden Girls". Before moving to the Cooper House, Beth Talbert and her staff provided excellent care at The Home Place Adult Daycare. Regency Hospice, the Cooper House, and The Home Place became like family to her, and her family will be forever grateful for their care. We extend special heartfelt appreciation to Shanta Partlow Towns  for her many years of dedication to Mozelle.

She is survived by her son Tom H. Smalley and wife, Debra; daughter Tonya S. Brantley and husband, Michael; grandchildren Jennifer S. Wood and husband, David and Jonathan M. Brantley and wife, Amanda; great grandchildren, Hannah Ariel Wood, Bailey Elizabeth Wood, Jackson David Wood, Abigail Ruth Brantley and Benjamin Fortson Brantley; brother, James Rowland; sisters, Clara Bonnett, Elizabeth Blake and Mary Jane Clements; sisters-in-law Helen Parks, Daphne Rowland, Edna Rowland and Olivia Smalley; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
