Peggy loved life and fought the good fight for God, family, country, and community from her early beginnings as the eldest child of five helping her family make ends meet during the Great Depression; then as a soldier's wife and mother of three during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam; and finally, in her golden years with her beloved husband Marion.

All who knew Peggy could not help but be inspired by her community spirit in joining and building community clubs and honoring our nation's heroes wherever she lived, her love of the outdoors including every imaginable flower and creature, and her sense of fun with friends whether playing bridge, bingo, jumping into a swimming hole, or frolicking with grandkids.

Peggy also set a wonderful example with her ability to just plain work hard as a teenage telephone switchboard operator in Iva, SC during the run up to World War II (this is where she first started supporting servicemen and women who needed to be in touch with their families back home), an A&P grocery store clerk in St. Petersburg, Florida (where she met soon to be PFC Marion Glover on his way to Germany), a dental hygienist for soldiers and their families at Fort Gordon, and as volunteer for countless organizations such as the Red Cross and American Cancer Society.

Peggy was also a strong-willed fighter for what was right from big picture issues such as minimizing sign clutter on highways through the garden club, to the more up close and personal concerns such as defending her baby goats from a pack of wild dogs or pulling a black snake out of a bluebird nest with her bare hands while making sure to not harm the snake.

Her greatest love was for her husband of 69 years, Marion. Together they made a positive difference in the world, inspiring and caring for all they came into contact with. When Marion passed in 2013, Peggy made one of her passions in his honor supporting the National Garden Clubs Blue Star and Gold Star Memorials Program which honors veterans and those that made the ultimate sacrifice. Many of the markers you can see on the highways and byways in Georgia were in some way put in place by Peggy's tireless efforts.  When you pass by them please give a salute to the veterans and their families and remember Peggy.

Peggy is survived by her daughter Linda McKinney (Jerry) and their children and grandchildren and her son Phil Glover (Tere) and their children and grandchildren.  Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Marion, her son Marion Glover, Jr., her mother Jessie, and her siblings Nellie Baugus, Jesse Reid (JR) McGee, Tommy (Pringle) McGee, and Amanda Brown.

If so desired memorial contributions may be made in Peggy's memory to the Lincolnton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 85, Lincolnton, GA. 30817.
