Obituary

Mrs. Peggy Cullars Guillebeau of Albany, GA died on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at her home. Her funeral service will be at 11 AM on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Covenant Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. William Coker officiating. The family will receive friends at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Thursday prior to the funeral beginning at 9:30 until the funeral hour. The interment service will be at 11 AM on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery in Lincolnton, Georgia. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Hugh Arthur, Louis Robinson, Matthew Snelling, Gary Williams, "D" Mertins, Jesse Norman, Justin Norman, Joe Guillebeau, Edd Price, Murray Remsen and Larry Campbell.

Mrs. Guillebeau was born in Lincoln County, Georgia on November 11, 1931. She was the wife of the late Dr. Frank Dempsey Guillebeau. They were blessed with four children who survive her: Watson Frank Guillebeau and wife, Cindy, of Albany, GA; Janet Guillebeau Carter and husband, Mark, of Winterville, GA; David Cullars Guillebeau and wife Janet, of Albany, GA; and Mark Dempsey Guillebeau and wife Dawn, of Aiken, SC. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kyle Guillebeau of Athens, GA; Ben Guillebeau of Albany, GA; Kristen Carter Ley of Winterville, GA; Laura Leigh G. Stoudenmire and husband, Charlie, of Nashville, TN; Beverly G. Inman and husband, John, of Albany, GA; Ashley and Lauren Guillebeau of Aiken, SC, and by two great-grandchildren Carter Ley and Avery Stoudenmire. Survivors also include a special niece, Kay Prater Robinson, of Washington, GA, and cousin, Murray Remsen, of Lincolnton, GA.

Mrs. Guillebeau was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Watson and Ruby Drinkard Cullars and her sister, Frances Cullars Prater and husband Fred, of Lincolnton, GA.

Mrs. Guillebeau moved to Albany in 1960 but was always proud of her Lincoln County heritage. She was a graduate of Lincolnton High School and Oglethorpe University. She loved the Lincoln County Red Devils and the Georgia Bulldogs. She was honored to serve on the Governor's Board of Alcoholism, having been appointed by then Governor, the Honorable George Busbee, and was the proud recipient of the Golden Deed Award from the Exchange Club of Albany. She was a member of the Junior League of Albany and devoted herself to the service of others. Mrs. Guillebeau was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Albany.

Late in life, Peggy enjoyed the companionship of Dr. Gray Rawls, who preceded her in death.

"Love one another" and "We are all God's children, equally created" was her mantra, and she practiced what she preached.

Mrs. Guillebeau had three very special care givers, Annette Brazier, Bobbie Thompson, and Elaine Robinson.
