Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Stanley Lewis, born on December 15, 1962, in Greenwood, South Carolina. Robert left us peacefully on July 18, 2026, at Doctors Hospital, under the compassion of Hospice. His gentle and kind spirit touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Robert was the cherished son of Gladys Cornelia Lewis and the late Eugene Talmadge Lewis. He is survived by his devoted mother, Gladys, who was his closest confidante and pillar of strength throughout his life. Robert was also the beloved brother of Mike Lewis (Joy) and Joey Lewis (Cheryl), and the proud uncle of Josh Lewis and Jake Lewis. His extended family, Uncle Little Roy (Bonnie), Aunt Janis Phillips, and several cousins, will forever remember him for his unwavering loyalty and generous heart.

Robert graduated from Evans High School in 1980. He furthered his education at Augusta College, where he earned a degree in mathematics. This passion for numbers and problem-solving led him to a fulfilling 35-year career with Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, where he worked diligently in the IT department until his retirement in 2025. Robert's dedication to his work was matched only by his commitment to those he loved.

Though he never married, Robert's life was rich with connections and love. He lived a simple yet meaningful life, finding joy in the company of his family and offering his support whenever it was needed. Robert's selfless nature and generous spirit were evident in the way he prioritized his family, particularly his mother, who was the center of his world.

We will honor Robert Stanley Lewis with a celebration of life service at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Hephzibah Baptist Church with Hospice  Chaplain, Jack Foley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 pm  at Hephzibah Baptist Church in Lincolnton, Georgia. Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of a man who gave so much of himself to others.

Serving as pallbearers  will be Keith Lewis, Josh Lewis, Lewis Phillips, Ron Russo, Bob Oellerich, and Nathan Montooth.

We hold on to the memories and lessons he leaves behind. His gentle soul, unwavering devotion to family, and genuine kindness will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.

If so desired memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 500 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
