Obituary

LINCOLNTON, GA. - Mr. Thomas E. "Sting" Dawkins, 87, of Sunrise Dr.  entered into rest on Wednesday, December 30, 2015.
Mr. Dawkins was the son of the late Ozzie Adel Dawkins and the late Lalla Norman Dawkins of Lincoln County. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of Lincolnton United Methodist Church and self-employed as a lumber broker. Mr. Dawkins loved to deer and dove hunt and hosted an annual dove shoot and barbeque at his farm aka The Pasture. He was an avid Lincoln County Red Devil fan and a gardener and shared his vegetables with his family and many friends.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years Janet N. Dawkins; four children, Debbie Rankin and husband, Tommy, Tommy Dawkins and wife, Nancy, Sherri Reed and husband, Tab and Melony Dawkins; ten grandchildren, Leigh Beggs and husband, Chuck, Jeremy Dawkins and wife, Ginger, Scott Drew, Benjamin Dawkins and wife, Rebecca, Hamilton Dawkins and wife, Melissa, Colbi Dunsmore and husband, Chris, Hali Stevens and husband, Brandon, Bo Reed and wife, Emily, Montana Dawkins and Isabella Dawkins; thirteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Grindstaff, Jeanette Hemphill and Libba Cunningham and husband, Tommy; three brothers, William Dawkins and wife, Janet, Lewis Dawkins and Sammy Dawkins and wife Vicki. Mr. Dawkins was preceded in death by a great grandson, Charles McGill Beggs III.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Lincolnton United Methodist Church with Rev. Deborah Griffith, Rev. Dave Hinson and Rev. Paul Reviere officiating. Entombment will be in the Lincolnton City Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons.
