William Dan Scott Jr., lovingly known as Billy, went home to be with his Heavenly Father at the age of 89, on August 29, 2025.

The celebration of life service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the Lincolnton Methodist Church with Pastor Glenn Hendley officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday at Rees Funeral Home.

Billy was born on April 8, 1936 in Lincolnton, Georgia to William Dan Scott and Bertha Walker Scott.

Billy was the devoted and loving husband of Dorothy Ann "Dot" Deason Scott for 69 wonderful years. Together they built a beautiful family and a life rooted in faith, love, and laughter.

Billy is survived by his beloved wife, Dot Scott, and his sister, Hilda Palmer. He was the proud father of four daughters: Kathy Sue Wingenbach (Dale), Pattie Lynn Hooks (Randy), Sherri Ann Reese, and Kristi Leigh Hall (Rhett). He was also a proud Papa to his grandchildren, Jennifer Galeazzi (Billy), Misty Kasic (Drew), Brooke Potts (Tim), Matthew Piper (Katelan), and Bridgette Dillard (Nicholas) and his great-grandchildren, Christian Galeazzi, Ryan (Brianna) Galeazzi, Katie Galeazzi, Savannah Kasic, Andie Kasic, Mackenzie Smith, Levi Smith, Kelsey Smith, Brayden Smith, Caleb Piper, Ethan Piper, Owen Piper and Harper Dillard and great-great grandchildren, Axel Galeazzi, Leanna Galeazzi and Hazel Piper. He will also be fondly remembered by his loyal cat, Skeeter.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Dot Smith and his brother Charles Scott.

Billy worked for many years at both Milliken Mills and Ace Hardware in McCormick, South Carolina, as a general manager at PTL in Fort Mill, and eventually retired from Lance Inc. in Charlotte where he was known for his reliability and strong work ethic. He was member of Antioch International Church, where he made many dear friends. He found joy in the simple things; fishing, reading Foxfire books, listening to Christian music, and spending time in the mountains. He was also a talented woodworker who loved creating crafts. He enjoyed returning to McCormick to sell his handmade creations. Above all, Billy's greatest joy was his family. He was a Godly leader, an encourager, and an anchor at every gathering. Always ready to go along with family shenanigans which often included singing, he never missed a single event, making sure his loved ones knew they were his greatest treasure.

Billy's life was a testament to love, faith, and strength. He will be dearly missed, but his influence will live on through the family and friends who loved him so deeply.
